The lamp conveys order, symmetry and splendor, just like Greek Doric columns in classical architecture. The faceted surface of the plafond mimics the fluting used on buildings and temples to create a sense of rhythm that gently diffuses the light radiating into space. Since it can be located in blown glass cylinder segments, it can lengthen the space vertically or expand it horizontally.
